Laura Crisp Davis is a visual artist, bestselling author, publisher, screenwriter, script supervisor, and former stand-up comic. She writes screenplays for film and television primarily in the genres of comedy and dramatic true/historical.

Laura wrote “The Recollection of Trees” (YA paranormal fantasy) under the pseudonym Sadie Francis Skyheart, which debuted as the #1 New Release in Children’s Scary Stories and Top 10 Bestselling Teen & YA Ghost Stories (2019, 2024). Books 2 and 3 are forthcoming in 2025. 

Prior to becoming a writer, Laura worked for a U.S. senator, ran a political campaign, and even held local office for a term--situations where your message must be clear and concise if you don't want a door slammed in your face! She also consulted in market research to gage audience reactions to movie trailers and artwork. These experiences helped develop Laura's distinctive pitching and logline skills.

From 2017-2023, she read for two international screenwriting competitions and a worked as a script consultant, providing development notes on 650+ scripts. She served on a screenwriting curriculum development team from 2020-2021, and in 2023, earned a script supervisor certification from one of the best in the industry.

Laura grew up in Michigan and holds a B.A. in International Relations from Michigan State University's James Madison College. She lives in Greater Chicago, but is a steadfast, lifelong Detroit Lions fan.
