FORWARD AND BEYOND: A Message from One Moorer CEO James Moorer

Like many Americans, One Moorer Media & Management has felt the impact recent tragedies and economic struggles facing the entertainment industry. And while the industry overall has suffered tremendous loss, we have not lost is our resilience.

Dark Anthem began as a hybrid of independent publishing, but as our knowledge and strength as a company grew, it became clear that playing small was not in our best interests. But that didn't mean abandoning our core beliefs and our desire to serve both the creators and the business. In fact, we've modeled how we do business after what we love about this business. To that end, we are moving to become a traditional publisher while holding fast to what drives independent publishers. In short, we've embraced the best of both worlds. 

I'm proud to announce that  Nicola Pittam, a former Fleet Street journalist and award-winning author has assumed the position as Chief Operating Officer with One Moorer. Nicola will oversee operations for Dark Anthem Press and One Anthem Press. She will also oversee our emerging Graphic Novel division, via our partnership with IMAGINOS STUDIOS. Nicola and I have enjoyed decades of creative collaboration in both screenwriting and producing and I am confident her insight and expertise will give us a firm foothold in the traditional publishing space. 

I am also proud to announce that Alexis Adkins, another highly awarded multihyphenate, joins the One Moorer as Head of Brand Strategy. Alexis has established her own brand as a creator of compelling female-driven projects with a twisted edge that challenge social norms. Having met Alexis through our association with Roadmap Writers, bringing Alexis on board made sense for our ever-growing business model. 

And speaking of things I'm proud of, our partnership with IMAGINOS WORKSHOP, is the culmination of a lifelong dream of returning to my comic book roots and creating a path for screenwriters and others to see their work realized in this medium.

Next month, during our re-launch of Dark Anthem,  we will open our submission window for Dark Anthem Press, seeking amazing stories from underrepresented writers, with the submission window for One Anthem Press to be announced later this year. 

In the coming months, there will be more changes affecting all areas of One Moorer and our brands. But our mission remains the same. Our dedication to creatives and being a gateway for overlooked voices is clearer today than ever. 

We've had some bumps and bruises along the way, and not every plan has worked out as expected, but that is the beauty of creating, never knowing where the page will take you, but ever confident that the journey and the experience will be worthwhile.  

So today, One Moorer faces the future with a new team, a stronger perspective, but keeping the same passion that created this business.
